The Brand
Limp Mode Motorsports started in 2020, the year i began competing with GOOFY. Although the brand did not yet exist and had no name back then, I had the idea. Ideas of a name of the brand was tossed around for a couple years without yet locking one in. GOOFY Motorsports was almost what I went with until fear of copywrite. Then the year 2024 when i entered GOOFY into Red Center Nats in Alice Springs for the 2nd time. The car was constantly in limp mode, had issues all weekend. Myself and a couple mates were making jokes about it and suddenly Limp Mode Motorsports popped into my head and stuck like wet toilet paper to a wall. It was final, ill formally name my idea 'Limp Mode Motorsports'. Its something different, not many brands are hanging stuff on themselves intentionally. This is exactly what I strive to make this brand, something different to the others.

GOOFY
GOOFY was purchased by myself in 2020, it was already a well known car in the SA skidding scene. It started as a standard naturally aspirated Barra in a 2004 BA Falcon. The first few mods what were done were; fuel pump, cell and surge tank mounted in the boot, braided PTFE AN lines front to back with a billet fuel rail up the front. Very simple upgrade for a dedicated burnout car but very costly. The price being around (without discounts) $7k. But, this like any other project got blown out of proportion. I wasnt happy with the tune that was done on the car, that mixed with it going into limp mode in Alice 2024 made me want to take everything back to the drawing board. Plans for a V8 build were in motion. This then, post RCN #10, with mixtures of silly ideas wound up the car Procharged, otherwise known as centrifugal supercharged. This has all the bells and whistles; intercooler, 3in aluminum piping all around, custom made brackets, etc. This 'new' setup set me back around $10k. It just seems too easy to spend this amount of money. Although the setup turned some heads and was different. It was doomed to fail. The charger fitted was a Powerdyne BD11A an internally belt driven charger. Not designed for sudden raise or drop in engine RPM, and very much not for constant limiter. This resulting in the prochargers internal belt to reduce itself to grass clippings. I figured after that, it may have just been the belt being just old and crap when i received it. I replaced the internal belt and went again at Riverland Burnouts 2024. This is when i found that it wasnt just its condition when i received it, but the chargers design as the internals where brand new. Back again to the drawing board. Late December 2024, on my routine scroll on Facebook marketplace. I struck gold. A shiny Weiand 177 with and already made custom intake plenum for it to work on a Barra. This with some head modifications, new parts and revised cooling systems, finalised GOOFY's build. Excluding the head machining and tune, the work was completed by myself and a few mates. Myself and a close mate are already mapping out a 2nd iteration of GOOFY coming in the near future.
